The New School Student Film Show
The Department of Media Studies and Film presents a student film show every November and February. Admission to the screenings is free and open to the public.
Entry is open to any film made in a New School film production course in the past year. The student film show is a qualifying screening for the annual New School Invitation Film Show held every spring as part of the Hirshon Film Festival.
The Annual New School Invitational Film Show
The best films made in New School film production courses in the past year are showcased every spring at the New School Invitational Film. The invited films were selected from among the films screened at the New School Student Film Shows in November and February. The invitational show is a juried competition. The films are judged by a panel of distinguished filmmakers and other industry professionals. Prizes are awarded in several categories by the various sponsors. Following the screenings and awards ceremony in the Tishman Auditorium, there is a reception with the filmmakers and judges. The New School Invitational Film Show is sponsored by Kodak, Colorlab, DuArt, Hotlights, The Filmmakers Cooperative, N&D Films, AIVF, Resfest, Magno Lablink, and Final Draft.
